Community Associations and Societies

Local societies and community associations are the heart of Magrath’s civic life. These volunteer-driven organizations bring neighbours together, support local interests, and strengthen the social fabric of our town. From cultural groups and service clubs to youth programs and heritage societies, each association plays a role in creating opportunities for connection, shared purpose, and community stewardship. Whether they organize events, provide services, preserve local history, advocate for community needs, or offer support to residents, these groups enrich life in Magrath and help make our town a welcoming place to live, work, and grow.

Magrath & District Recreation Committee

The Magrath and District Recreation Committee was formed in 2011 to promote recreation in Magrath and surrounding area. Our committee, which is incorporated under the Alberta Societies Act has representation from the Magrath Town Council, the Cardston County Council, the Magrath Town Administration and citizens of the town and county.

The Recreation Committee has made an effort to develop relationships with community recreation groups and with Town and County councils. As opportunities arise to improve community facilities and programs, our committee hopes to be able to facilitate the cooperation of community groups and councils to make things happen.

Our committee has had many successes already. One major accomplishment has been overseeing the construction of trails near the fishpond, including designing the trail, applying for grants, fundraising, negotiating with land owners, organizing community trail clean up and arranging for contracting work to be done. Other accomplishments include holding mass registration nights, publishing our first leisure guide, applying for arena and pool grants, encouraging participation in summer games, etc. We also have several other projects in the works.

Community members are welcome to stop in on our meetings, to find out when the next meeting is happening send an email or phone town hall at 403-758-3212.
