Licensing in the Town of Magrath
The Town of Magrath requires certain licenses to help ensure community safety, accountability, and compliance with local bylaws. Whether you are licensing a pet or operating a business, the information below outlines when a license is required and how to complete the process.

Dog Licensing
The Town of Magrath requires all dog owners to obtain a valid dog license. Licenses are not required for cats. Dog licenses must be renewed annually to remain valid and to support responsible pet ownership within the community. All dog license renewals must be completed in person at the Town Office in January each year.
*Please note that the cost of dog licensing increases if the dog has not been spayed or neutered.
Business Licensing
Most businesses operating within the Town of Magrath are required to hold a valid business license. In some cases, a license may not be required if the business already holds a valid license from a nearby municipality that participates in a shared business licensing agreement. All business license renewals should be completed in person at the Town Office in January each year.

Livestock and Poultry Application
Livestock and poultry within the Town of Magrath are regulated to balance residents enjoyment of rural living with public health, safety, and neighbourhood compatibility. The keeping of animals such as chickens, ducks, or other small livestock may be permitted in designated areas and is subject to specific requirements found in the Livestock and Poultry Bylaw which can be pound here.
Read through the bylaw to determine whether your property is located within the Animal Zone, in which case an application must be submitted to Town Hall for permission. Both the map of the No Animal Zone and the application form are included as schedules to the bylaw.
