Sewer Main Flushing
Jessica Hehr • May 9, 2023
Over the next two to three weeks, from Monday to Friday between 7 am and 3:30 pm, the Town will be conducting routine maintenance to ensure the smooth flow of the sewer main lines.
What to Expect
During the cleaning process, you can continue to use toilets, sinks, and other appliances. The air pressure in the sewer can create noise in the pipes and may cause water to splash out through toilets, sinks, and drains. To prevent spills, it’s advised to keep toilet lids closed and sink drains covered when not in use.
Short-term nuisance odors may occur during sewer cleaning. Opening windows for a few minutes, running water down the sink and bathtub drains, flushing toilets, and pouring water into basement floor drains can help clear the odors.
Chemicals are not used in the sewer main cleaning. High-pressure water is utilized to dislodge debris and flush the pipes, while a powerful vacuum is employed to remove the debris from the pipes.
Your patience is appreciated. Thank you,
