Feeding of Wildlife

The Town and Fish and Wildlife strongly discourage the feeding of wildlife for the following reasons listed on the Fish and Wildlife website:

Never feed wildlife. Wildlife feeding on food from people and human-use areas not only prevents wildlife from getting nutrition from natural food sources, it teaches wildlife to associate people with food. This can lead to problematic, even dangerous, situations that may result in human injury and/or wildlife being destroyed.

Never approach wildlife. It may be stressful for wildlife when someone enters their territory. Over time, wildlife can become accustomed to people, increasing the risk of negative human-wildlife encounters. Always respect the "personal space" of wildlife to help them stay wild. Also keep in mind that bats, skunks and foxes are carriers of rabies and, if seen acting oddly, must be avoided, even if your intention is to help.

Also watch out for the occasional cougar which passes through our community.

Magrath Vehicle Thefts

Over the past two weeks, there have been a few vehicle thefts and theft from vehicles in the town of Magrath.  Raymond RCMP would like to remind residents of Magrath to remove all items of value from your vehicles, lock your vehicles and remove the keys from your vehicle.  This will help to remove the easy opportunity to steal or remove items from your vehicle.   If you have any information about a criminal offence, you can call the Raymond RCMP at 403-752-4747 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Grass clippings and garden waste are not permitted in black garbage bins and should be taken to the compost pile at the dump.

Green compost bins are available through the town at a one-time fee of $95 and will be owned by the purchaser. The Town will empty the bins weekly between May and October at no charge.
